The Oregon Child Care Training Calendar lists many of the classroom trainings available to child care providers, including center staff, that may be used to fulfill Child Care Division (CCD) licensing requirements, The Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education's Oregon Registry requirements. Not all classes in this calendar will fulfill both requirements, so it is your responsibility to determine if any particular class will fulfill any partciular requirement. Many of these classes will, however, fulfill both CCD and Oregon Registry requirements. You can learn more about CCD training requirements by following this link to the Child Care Division's website and viewing the rule book for the type of care you provide: http://www.employment.oregon.gov/EMPLOY/CCD/forProviders.shtml#Child_Care_Rule_Books To learn more about the Oregon Registry and other professional development opportunities, follow this link: http://www.centerline.pdx.edu/programs/registry/registry-home.html You can use this calendar to search in a number of different ways, but from the front page, you can search by county and by language. To search for trainings only in English or in a language other than English, click on the appropriate menu button on the left hand side of the calendar. To search by county, use the pulldown menu above the map or simply click the county on the map where you wish to search for trainings.
If you wish to search the entire state for trainings, click on the word "here" right above the pulldown menu.
Either selection will take you to a page which displays all scheduled trainings for the county that you have selected or for the entire state if that was your initial selection. The default search type is by training categories and all training categories are initially displayed, along with the city and county in which the trainings will be held. Whenever you see the name of a training, you can click on it to see more detailed information about that training. List of trainings For most trainings, it is necessary to preregister and prepay (if there is a fee for the training); the detailed training information will give you contact information in order to register. Many trainings fill up quickly, so don't wait too long to register! There are a number of search options in addition to searching by training category. You can use the pulldown menu at the very top of the page, which will initially read See by training categories, to select a different method of searching. Click the arrow on the right hand side of the menu to pull down the list and see all available search options. Options are: - See by day -- this search option searches for trainings held on a particular day in a particular county (or in all counties in the state). The default day is the current day, but you can select a different day by using the pulldown menu.
- See by week -- this search option searches for trainings held during a particular week in a particular county (or in all counties in the state). The default week is the current week and the week is set to begin on Sunday. If you select a different date, the search will change to the week that includes that date.
- See by month -- this search option searches for trainings held during a particular day in a particular county (or in all counties in the state). The default month is the current month, but you can select a different month by using the pulldown menu containing the name of the month or by clicking on one of the single arrows. Use the arrow pointing to the left to go back a month, the arrow pointing to the right to go forward one month. Click as many times as needed to reach the month you want. The month displays in calendar format and uses an abbreviated title of the training due to space limitations. If you hold the cursor (your mouse) over the name of a training, a floating window will appear with the name of the training, plus the day, date, and time of the training. Also, you can click on the name of a training to see more detail about it.
Using the arrows - See by year -- this search option searches for trainings held on a particular year in a particular county (or in all counties in the state). The default year is the current year, but you can select a different year by using the pulldown menu containing the year or the month or by clicking on one of the double-headed arrows. Use the double arrow pointing to the left to go back a year, the double arrow pointing to the right to go forward a year. Click as many times as needed to reach the year you want. Typically, most trainings are scheduled about six months in advance, so do not expect to find a lot of trainings very far into the future!
- See by training categories -- this search option searches for trainings that fit into one or more of the training categories detailed above. Most of these training categories correspond to the Oregon Registry's "core knowledge categories," so you can use these categories to search for the classes that you need if you are working on a "step" up the professional development ladder.
- See by age groups -- this search option searches for trainings that are relevant to one or more age groups. Some trainings do not apply to any particular age group, while others might be able to be partially applied to one or more age groups. Training relevant to a particular age group or groups is required for child care center staff and is also needed for many professional development credentials. The age group categories are:
- Infant/Toddler
- Preschool
- School Age
- Adult
- Search by keyword -- this search option searches for trainings that contain a keyword or words in the title or description of the training. To use this option, select Search by keyword on the uppermost pulldown menu, then enter the key word or words you want to search for in the box right above the Search button. Click the Search button to begin your search.
